Solar Energy History

Our earth has undergone massive transformation ever since evolution started and with every passing phase of the same, the living creatures and the atmosphere too has constantly adapted to the varying conditions that characterized the earth. However, no century has seen any faster and startling transformation as the twentieth century, where not only various creatures have breathed their last or come to be endangered, but also the vast resources of nature have come under threat of overuse and overexploitation.

The change had to be taken care of and that is why scientists and professionals from everywhere around the world came together to formulate newer resources of renewable energy that could cope with the increased demands in fuel and energy resources. Just imagine the number of cars that run in the world today. They use fuels that are limited in quantity and that cause pollution. It is to this end that scientists have come up with renewable sources of energy like solar energy, wind energy, etc.

The biggest attribute of solar energy is that it does not cause pollution. The naturally present energy, as liberated by the sun, is harnessed in solar power plants to release energy that can drive motors. The basic premises of solar energy driven plants is to trap the sunlight and the special photo-electric cells that convert the solar energy into electricity or heat energy, whichever might be preferred, causing movements and heating of machines and gadgets. Solar energy is increasingly finding its validity in today’s times where the nonrenewable sources of energy such as petroleum, coal, etc are decaying at a steady rate.

These nonrenewable natural sources of energy have taken millions and millions of years to form and once they are exhausted, they cannot be easily gathered to serve the next generations. On the contrary, solar energy promises a constant inflow and is obviously a source of renewable energy. With the solar energy to serve our daily needs, it is no longer problem thinking about what would happen after the nonrenewable sources are completely exhausted. With the gaining consciousness that is characterizing any human being of today, it is expected from one to switch over to these highly developed means of saving the earth and yourself and get every need in energy be solar powered.

The history of solar energy has already seen several leaps and turns and has been widely been accepted as a safer and economical means. Not just conservation of natural resources but the conservation of atmosphere in its totality – this is what solar energy and solar power can be summed up as. Solar energy in India has also gained much prominence and most water plants in the country have deployed this effective means of energy today. Several metropolitan houses today are solar powered and the street lamps that dot every village are also solar powered that switch on automatically at the sun’s setting.

Likewise, several developing and developed nations have adopted this form of renewable energy to make their lives easy. Experts have also come up with solar energy driven cars with which we look forward to see a better world, very soon.
